WORK FOR GOD, NOT MAN
Colossians 3:23-24
Work willingly at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people. Remember that the Lord will give you an inheritance as your reward, and that the Master you are serving is Christ.
COMMENT
Motivations of the heart….such an important area to consider and manage. How often do we forget that we are working for God and not for man? Working for man alone can put us on a treadmill that is monotonous, unfulfilling and unrewarding. We think it’s going to give us lasting satisfaction but it never does.
If we focus on the wrong things, we won’t see God in our everyday environments. If we are open, God always wants to use us to impact the lives of those around us and to reach the lost…he always has a plan.
The moment that we shift our focus and commit all that we do to God, things change on the inside of us. When we understand that we are working for God our level of communication with him increases, we begin to see what he sees and we see his fingerprints all over our day.
Failing to see God in what we do pushes us away from him, committing what we do to him draws us closer to him and helps to maintain intimacy.
Wherever you are and whatever you do, your vocation, your ministry activities, whatever it is…..in all you do…..resolve in your heart that you are doing it for God, not man and you will never be disappointed. Do for him in response to what he has done for you. Then you will be invigorated, you will find purpose and a fresh level of intimacy with your creator!
REFLECTION QUESTIONS
For those that work, how often do you remind yourself that you are there to work for God not man?
For those who serve on a ministry team, how often do you remind yourself that you are there for God not man?
For those who minister to others, how often do you remind yourself that you are there for God not man?
For those who do things for others, how often do you remind yourself that you are there for God not man?
Whatever you do, how often do you remind yourself that you are doing it for God not man?
What has changed when you have being purposeful about doing things for God rather than for man?
PERSONAL CHALLENGE
Today, spend a minimum of 15min with God, no distractions, and be totally honest, share your heart and allow time for him to speak to you.
MAIN QUESTION (SELF REFLECTION)
What is God speaking to you about through this passage?
Encourage others by sharing your revelation in the group chat!
This is a self-reflection about what God is speaking directly to you about in YOUR life.
Words like “I” and “Me” are encouraged, “we” and “us” less so.
(On the Messages tab in Church Center)
PERSONAL PRAYER STARTER
Lord, bring to mind areas in which I need to be more purposeful about doing them for you and not for man. My heart’s desire is to please you, your opinion matters above all others. Speak to me. In Jesus name, amen.
