THE POWER OF FORGIVENESS
Matthew 6:14-15 (NLT)
14 “If you forgive those who sin against you, your heavenly Father will forgive you. 15 But if you refuse to forgive others, your Father will not forgive your sins.
Colossians 3:13
13 Make allowance for each other’s faults, and forgive anyone who offends you. Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others.
Luke 17:4 (NLT)
4 Even if that person wrongs you seven times a day and each time turns again and asks forgiveness, you must forgive.”
Mark 11:25 (NLT)
25 But when you are praying, first forgive anyone you are holding a grudge against, so that your Father in heaven will forgive your sins, too.
COMMENT
Unforgiveness is something that can be extremely detrimental to our intimacy with God. Sometimes it can sneak up on us and we can be completely unaware that we are carrying unforgiveness towards someone. Unforgiveness makes us bitter, keeps us captive and bound up on the inside. It keeps us in the past, creates space for the enemy and eliminates the possibility of healing. It can even negatively impact our other relationships.
In stark contrast, forgiveness sets us free……………again, forgiveness sets us free!!!
When you forgive you close the door on the offence and stop the other person from hurting you over and over again. Forgiveness restores peace, joy, allows God to bring healing and puts us back on track with his purpose for our life. Forgiveness leads to spiritual health and returns us to closeness with God.
REFLECTION QUESTIONS
Do you have any unforgiveness in your heart?
Are you allowing someone to hurt you over and over again because of unforgiveness?
What would it take for you to have closure from past hurts?
PERSONAL CHALLENGE
Today, spend a minimum of 15min with God, no distractions, and ask him to speak to you about who you are in Christ, the inheritance you have been given, his promises and what he has done for you….ask him to help you to live out of these realities.
MAIN QUESTION (SELF REFLECTION)
What is God speaking to you about through this passage?
Encourage others by sharing your revelation in the group chat!
This is a self-reflection about what God is speaking directly to you about in YOUR life.
