2 Corinthians 5:20 (NLT)
So we are Christ’s ambassadors; God is making his appeal through us. We speak for Christ when we plead, “Come back to God!”

COMMENT
When we have intimate relationship with God we are reminded regularly of his promises, who he is and who we are in him.

If you have accepted Jesus as your Lord and Saviour then you are an ambassador for Christ and have a higher calling. To understand what Paul is saying here we need to understand that at that time, to be an ambassador, was to be an official representative of a state or a land. Ambassadors were held in the highest regard and behaved according to their position. In this passage Paul was saying to the Christians in Corinth to see themselves as “ambassadors of Christ” and to walk and talk accordingly.

Sometimes it easy to forget that are Christ’s ambassadors, that we carry his presence and authority everywhere we go. We are representatives of the Kingdom of God in a foreign land, taking his message to the world. When we forget this we can act and behave in ways driven from our own selfish nature. What an honour and privilege it is to be his ambassador!

When we spend time with God in the intimate place we are reminded that we are his ambassador. Over the next few days start your day by saying, I’m Christs ambassador and I carry all that he has given me.” What an incredible privilege to be his ambassador!

REFLECTION QUESTIONS

  1. How do you think being Christ’s ambassador should impact your daily life?

  2. What may change in your life if you started each day by saying, “I am Christ’s ambassador”?

  3. How does intimacy with God impact the reality that you are an ambassador of Christ?

PERSONAL CHALLENGE

Today, spend a minimum of 15min with God, no distractions, and ask him to speak to you about who you are in Christ, the inheritance you have been given, his promises and what he has done for you….ask him to help you to live out of these realities.

MAIN QUESTION (SELF REFLECTION)

What is God speaking to you about through this passage?

Encourage others by sharing your revelation in the group chat!
This is a self-reflection about what God is speaking directly to you about in YOUR life.
Words like “I” and “Me” are encouraged, “we” and “us” less so.

PERSONAL PRAYER STARTER
Lord, I declare today that I am your ambassador. Help me to carry all that comes with the position that I hold within your kingdom. In Jesus name, amen!
