HEARING HIS VOICE

John 10:27 (NLT)

My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me.

COMMENT
In the Bible Jesus is described as the Great Shepherd and those who have given their lives to him, his sheep. Jesus knows everything about each and every one of his sheep and he loves and cares deeply about them. Interestingly, sheep have poor eye sight and great hearing. They are easily distracted and when they follow their eyes they can wander from the flock and become vulnerable to attack from predators. But when the Shepherd calls they know his voice, respond and come back. We too can lose our way sometimes and need the great shepherd to get us back on track.

The amazing thing about Jesus is that he is constantly speaking to his sheep. He is constantly caring for, directing and loving on his sheep. The real question is, are we listening? And once we have heard, are they prepared to follow his leading? Jesus wants the best for us and can be trusted to lead us to green pastures.

Intimacy is built on two-way conversation between to persons. It hard to be intimate with God when we are not hearing his voice, when we aren’t able to hear what he is saying to us. Want intimacy with God? Be more attentive to his voice. He is always speaking.

REFLECTION QUESTIONS

  1. How are you positioning yourself to hear from the Great Shepherd?

  2. How do you recognise his voice when he speaks to you?

  3. Has there been a time when you have heard from Jesus but found it difficult to follow through with what he was asking you to do?

PERSONAL CHALLENGE

Today, spend a minimum of 15min with God, no distractions, and be totally honest, share your heart and allow time for him to speak to you.

MAIN QUESTION (SELF REFLECTION)

What is God speaking to you about through this passage?

Encourage others by sharing your revelation in the group chat!
This is a self-reflection about what God is speaking directly to you about in YOUR life.
Words like “I” and “Me” are encouraged, “we” and “us” less so.
