DOING HIS WILL
John 5:30 (NLT)
I can do nothing on my own. I judge as God tells me. Therefore, my judgment is just, because I carry out the will of the one who sent me, not my own will.
COMMENT
Jesus was God, yet he sought and did the will of God the Father. So much so that he said, “I can do nothing on my own.” Not once did he take matters into his own hands. In our humanity, it so easy for us to do what we want instead of doing what God wants us to do. Doing what God wants requires us to seek him and to listen to what he says and to actually follow through and do what he tells us. We have the incredible privilege of possessing free. This combined with our selfish nature can make us incredible strong willed. Choosing God’s will requires us to put aside our agenda to follow his, the two cannot coexist. Things done in our own strength are rarely lasting. When we do things his way there is always fruit and always brings life. In short, his ways are always better. Hearing his voice and doing his will flow from intimacy with him.
REFLECTION QUESTIONS
Do you have a situation before you at the moment in which you need to seek God’s will?
What has been the result when you have taken things into your own hands and done what you wanted instead of what God wanted?
What has been the outcome when you have turned a situation over to God and decided to do his will above your own?
PERSONAL CHALLENGE
Today, spend a minimum of 15min with God, no distractions, and be totally honest, share your heart and allow time for him to speak to you.

What is God speaking to you about through this passage?
Encourage others by sharing your revelation in the group chat!
