GOD RESPONDS TO FAITH

SCRIPTURE PASSAGE

Mark 5:24-34 (NLT)

24 Jesus went with him, and all the people followed, crowding around him. 25 A woman in the crowd had suffered for twelve years with constant bleeding. 26 She had suffered a great deal from many doctors, and over the years she had spent everything she had to pay them, but she had gotten no better. In fact, she had gotten worse. 27 She had heard about Jesus, so she came up behind him through the crowd and touched his robe. 28 For she thought to herself, “If I can just touch his robe, I will be healed.” 29 Immediately the bleeding stopped, and she could feel in her body that she had been healed of her terrible condition.

30 Jesus realized at once that healing power had gone out from him, so he turned around in the crowd and asked, “Who touched my robe?”

31 His disciples said to him, “Look at this crowd pressing around you. How can you ask, ‘Who touched me?’”

32 But he kept on looking around to see who had done it. 33 Then the frightened woman, trembling at the realization of what had happened to her, came and fell to her knees in front of him and told him what she had done. 34 And he said to her, “Daughter, your faith has made you well. Go in peace. Your suffering is over.”

SCRIPTURE FOCUS

Mark 5:34 (NLT)

And he said to her, “Daughter, your faith has made you well. Go in peace. Your suffering is over.”

COMMENT

With God, nothing is impossible! But it requires faith. When Jesus found it impossible to perform miracles it was due to a lack of faith (Matthew 13:58). So many times in scripture, over and over, we see God responding to faith.

Sometimes, without realising it, we can develop a little attitude towards God because he hasn’t come through when we needed him. We have a need but he’s not answering our prayers. It’s always Gods heart to bless us but sometimes praying for a need doesn’t guarantee an instant yes. Sometimes it requires us to step out in faith.

The woman with the issue of blood is the perfect example. She desperately needed healing. She had tried all the traditional methods and her condition was getting worse, not better. So instead of being resigned to it, giving up and doing nothing, she sought out Jesus…she acted, she didn’t stay at home, she did something. She reached out and touched his robe and she was instantly healed. This was all simply because she had “heard about Jesus.” How simple and profound!

You see, Jesus doesn’t simply respond to need, he responds to faith. Nothing is impossible for God, but….it may require you to step out in faith, to take some action, to do something before you see his mighty power in action. Be encouraged, God is a responder to faith!

REFLECTION QUESTIONS

  1. Are you prone to being resigned to it, giving up and doing nothing instead of stepping out in faith?

  2. What is your greatest hinderance to your stepping out in faith?

  3. In what ways has the woman with the issue of blood encouraged you?

MAIN QUESTION (SELF REFLECTION)

What is God speaking to you about in respect to stepping out in faith?

Encourage others by sharing your revelation in the group chat on Planning Center!
This is a self-reflection about what God is speaking directly to you about in YOUR life.
Words like “I” and “Me” are encouraged, “we” and “us” less so.

PERSONAL PRAYER STARTER
Lord, reveal the areas in my life in which I need to take action, to step out in faith. I need your power to move in my life. In Jesus name, Amen.
