COMMENT
On Day 9, we focused on the beauty of the "secret place." While Jesus frequently withdrew to lonely places to pray and align Himself with the Father, He always returned to His disciples (The closest Peter, James & John, the 12 and the 70). He did not live in isolation. Instead, he modeled a life of deep connection with the Father in private and a life lived in community with others. In order to flourish, we need both of these things in our lives. We need connection in the secret place, as well as people around us who speak life into us, people who see the call of God on our lives and nudge us back toward Jesus when we drift.
God’s church is far more than a weekly gathering. It is a living, breathing organism. It is a diverse, global family of living stones (1 Peter 2:5) that functions as a single body, drawing its life and direction from Jesus Christ to express His love to the world. The church is also His cherished Bride, being purified by the washing of the Word to be presented to Him in radiant splendour. If His church is so important to Jesus, should we not also place the same value on Her as He does? Should we not be fully planted in His house and bearing fruit into our old age?
Maturity is the joyful discovery of what it means to be fully planted in a spiritual family. It is the transition from being a face in the crowd to taking up your vital part in the body. When you are truly integrated, you gain a circle of people who love you enough to celebrate your wins and lift you up when you are weary. While it can be tempting to stay on the perimeter where things feel safe, we are at our best when we allow the body of Christ to support us. This connection helps us see the incredible potential God has placed within us. It also positions us to see His will done on Earth and enables us to step into His plan.
WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU ARE FULLY PLANTED
Uncommon Strength: You no longer have to carry the weight of life on your own. When challenges come, you have a spiritual family standing shoulder to shoulder with you.
Sharpened Character: Just as iron sharpens iron, your relationships become a tool for growth. You become wiser and more like Jesus because of the godly people in your life.
A Safe Place to Grow: You find the freedom to be imperfect. In a healthy community, you can be honest about your struggles and find the grace and accountability you need to move forward.
Discovery of Giftings: Often, others see the gold in us before we see it ourselves. Being integrated allows people to call out the gifts God has placed inside you.
Consistent Encouragement: You move from being a spectator to a participant. You find that as you stir up others toward love, your own soul is refreshed and encouraged.
THE INTEGRATION TEST
Pick the number that best describes where you feel you’re at right now. Where ever you are pray about what might be your next step to move forward.
The Potted Plant: I attend regularly, but I have not yet put down roots in this soil. My connection is portable and I could easily move on without feeling a sense of loss. I keep my world separate from the church family.
The Shallow Soil: I am friendly on the surface, but my roots are not deep. I stay on the perimeter where it feels safe and easy. When life gets difficult or busy, it is easy for me to pull away or hide because I am not truly anchored here.
The Growing Tree: I am becoming a consistent part of the church family. My roots are starting to find depth and I am beginning to let trusted people see the real me. I am learning how to let the community support me as I grow.
The Deeply Rooted: I am fully planted in the house. I have trusted relationships where people have permission to speak into my life. I am intentionally connected and my life is intertwined with the growth and health of those around me. I fully do life with my church family.
MAIN QUESTIONS
(Self Reflection)
Let’s Talk in the Chat
(on the Boot Camp group in Planning Center)One of the best parts of this journey is that we aren’t doing it alone. We’d love for our chat to be a place of real connection. As you go through each day, please jump in and share:
God’s Voice: What is one specific thing you feel the Holy Spirit is whispering to your heart?
Self-Reflection: What did the "test" reveal to you today?
The Wins: Did you do one of the action points? Tell us about it!
Testimony: Share a thought about a time a friend or leader gave you the right word at the right time.
Please Read:
Don't worry about sounding 'spiritual' The most encouraging thing you can share is your honest process. This is a self-reflection about what God is speaking directly to you about in YOUR life. Words like “I” and “Me” are encouraged, “we” and “us” less so.
ACTION POINTS
The Fifteen Minute Rule: After the service this week, don't rush away. Stay and engage in a real, meaningful conversation with someone.
The Connection Text: Reach out to a leader or a trusted friend today. Share one thing you are currently walking through and ask for their perspective or prayer.
Take the Next Step: If you aren't yet in a small group or a team, take one practical step today to find out how you can get connected and start being known.
PERSONAL PRAYER STARTER
"Father, thank You for the gift of the church family. Help me to move past the perimeter and find trusted friends who can sharpen me and walk beside me. I want to be fully known and fully supported in Your house. Amen."
14 DAYS OF PRAYER (Corporate Prayer)
Today we are praying for UNITY.
Possible prayer areas: Pray for unity in the body of Christ. Pray against attacks from the enemy and his divisive schemes. Pray for people to put aside their personal agendas to see His kingdom reign. Pray unity and reconciliation over the church. Pray that we would see God’s perspective above all else.
