COMMENT
When Jesus declared, “I am the bread of life,” He offered us a beautiful promise that in Him, our deepest hungers are satisfied and our spiritual thirst is quenched. Real, lasting transformation begins the moment we realise we can go directly to Him to be filled. While gathering on Sundays is a gift, we are invited to feast on His goodness every single day, ensuring our souls stay nourished and vibrant all week long.
True maturity is the joyful discovery that the One who sits on the Throne is also our personal Source of life. It’s an invitation to walk with Him daily, not just within the church walls. Rather than waiting for the right music to feel close to Him, we can honour His leadership by building our own rhythms of Bible reading and prayer. There is such freedom in realising you don't need a middleman to hear His voice, the King is available to you at all times. When you learn to feed on His Truth for yourself, you become rooted, resilient, and truly unstoppable!
WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU SELF-FEED
Constant Nourishment: You no longer experience the "mid-week slump" because you aren't waiting for Sunday to get your spiritual nutrients.
Internal Authority: You gain confidence in your walk. Instead of wondering what God thinks, you know His voice because you’ve spent time in His Word.
Weather-Proof Faith: When life gets hard or "church life" gets messy, your faith remains steady. Your roots go deeper than a social circle or a Sunday service.
Spiritual Discernment: You become harder to deceive. Like someone who knows the real currency, you can easily spot what isn't from God because you are familiar with the Truth.
Overflowing Life: You move from being a "consumer" to a "provider." Because you are full, you naturally have something to offer to those around you.
THE "SELF-FEEDER" TEST
Pick the number that best describes where you feel you’re at right now. Wherever you are, pray about what might be your next step to move forward.
1 — Dependent on Others: I find that my spiritual "battery" only gets charged on Sundays. If I miss a service or a small group meeting, I feel my faith quickly fading. I rely almost entirely on the worship team or the preacher to connect me to God.
2 — Spoon-Fed: I am willing to learn, but I only eat what is put in front of me. I might read a pre-written devotional or follow a guided reading plan, but I don’t know how to study a passage of Scripture on my own or hear God’s voice without someone else's help.
3 — Emerging Self-Feeder: I have developed some personal rhythms of prayer and reading. I can usually navigate my way through a spiritual "dry spell" by seeking God, though I still find myself heavily reliant on external "hype" or special events to feel spiritually energised.
4 — Rooted & Self-Sustaining: I am proactive about my own growth. I know how to study the Word, engage in deep prayer, and fast without being prompted. Like a tree planted by streams of water, my leaf does not wither when "drought" comes, because my roots have found the Source for themselves.
MAIN QUESTIONS
(Self Reflection)
Let’s Talk in the Chat
(on the Boot Camp group in Planning Center)
One of the best parts of this journey is that we aren’t doing it alone. We’d love for our chat to be a place of real connection. As you go through each day, please jump in and share:
God’s Voice: What is one specific thing you feel the Holy Spirit is whispering to your heart?
Self-Reflection: What did the "test" reveal to you today?
The Wins: Did you do one of the action points? Tell us about it!
Self Feeding: What changes in YOUR life when you seek Jesus yourself rather than rely on others to feed you?
Please Read:
Don't worry about sounding 'spiritual'. The most encouraging thing you can share is your honest process. This is a self-reflection about what God is speaking directly to you about in YOUR life.
Words like “I” and “Me” are encouraged, “we” and “us” less so.
ACTION POINTS
1. Deep Dive: After reading today’s boot camp devotion, spend 5 minutes reading the surrounding verses in your Bible to see the full story for yourself.
2. Journal One Thought: Write down one specific thing you feel God is saying to you personally through today's scripture.
3. Scheduled Solitude: Set a 10-minute timer for "appointment prayer" today, just you and Him, no distractions.
PERSONAL PRAYER STARTER
"Father, thank You for my church and my leaders, but I want to know You for myself. Teach me how to hear Your voice when I’m alone with my Bible. I want to feast on Your truth every day. Amen."
14 DAYS OF PRAYER (Corporate Prayer)
MARRIAGES - Pray for strong marriages. Pray against division and spiritual attack and speak the favour of God over them.
