— DAY 5 —
FRIDAY 6 February, 2026
THE POWER OF ABIDING
(Intimacy & Awareness)
SCRIPTURE PASSAGES
John 15:5
"I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit..."
Psalm 16:11
"You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy..."
COMMENT
There’s a big difference between simply knowing about someone and sharing deep, relational intimacy with them. Real intimacy is a treasure that grows when we purposefully choose to connect, sharing our hearts in those moments of deep, honest communication. While it’s natural to reach out to Jesus when a crisis hits, there is joy in walking with Him through every season, when things are challenging and when life is flowing smoothly.
There is unbelievable power in this connection because when we abide in Him, we are plugged into the very Source of life. This constant union allows His strength, wisdom, and peace to flow through us effortlessly, transforming the way we face every situation. Perhaps the most beautiful part is that His presence is never out of reach, we can return to this connection at any point. No matter how distracted we’ve become, the moment we turn our hearts back to Him, He is right there. Whether life feels loud or quiet, Jesus is inviting you into a deep, life-giving connection that is always only a breath away.
WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU ABIDE IN HIM
Internal Rest: Even when your schedule is chaotic, your soul feels quiet. Because you are "attached to the Vine," His peace flows into you regardless of your environment.
Natural Fruitfulness: You stop "trying" to be a good person and start "being" one. Kindness, patience, and love become natural by-products of being near Him rather than a list of chores.
Instant Guidance: When you abide, the "distance" between you and God's voice disappears. You receive subtle nudges and wisdom in real-time because you are already listening.
Sustained Joy: Your happiness is no longer a roller coaster based on your performance. You find that "fullness of joy" comes from the presence of the Person, not the perfection of your day.
Shifted Perspective: Problems that used to feel giant-sized start to look small. From the position of abiding, you see your challenges through the lens of His power rather than your own limitations.
THE ABIDING TEST (Intimacy & Awareness)
Pick the number that best describes where you feel you’re at right now. Where ever you are pray about what might be your next step to move forward.
1 — Distant / Performance-Based: I feel far from God unless I am at church or have done something "good." My relationship feels like a long-distance correspondence.
2 — Intermittent / Clouded: I have "mountaintop" moments, but they are quickly drowned out by the noise of life. I often go days without awareness of His presence.
3 — Developing / Aware: I am practicing the "presence of God" throughout my day. I have a sense He is with me, though I struggle to stay connected when stressed.
4 — Abiding / Intimate: I live in a state of "unbroken fellowship." I talk to Him as a friend throughout the day, and His presence is the most real thing in my life.
MAIN QUESTIONS
(Self Reflection)
Let’s Talk in the Chat
(on the Boot Camp group in Church Center)One of the best parts of this journey is that we aren’t doing it alone. We’d love for our chat to be a place of real connection. As you go through each day, please jump in and share:
God’s Voice: What is one specific thing you feel the Holy Spirit is whispering to your heart?
Self-Reflection: What did the "test" reveal to you today?
The Wins: Did you do one of the action points? Tell us about it!
Testimony: "Share a testimony of a time when you felt God’s presence or a 'nudge' of guidance in the middle of a normal, busy day."
Please Read:
Don't worry about sounding 'spiritual' The most encouraging thing you can share is your honest process. This is a self-reflection about what God is speaking directly to you about in YOUR life. Words like “I” and “Me” are encouraged, “we” and “us” less so.
ACTION POINTS
1. The Hourly Check-In: Set an alarm for every two hours. Take 30 seconds to acknowledge God is with you.
2. Open Dialogue: Try "breath prayers." Whenever stressed, breathe and say, "Lord, I’m leaning on You."
3. Noise Fast: Drive or walk in silence today for 15 minutes, inviting God into your thoughts.
PERSONAL PRAYER STARTER
"Jesus, thank You that You never leave me. Help me to stay connected to You today like a branch in a vine. I want to be aware of Your presence even when things are busy. Amen."
14 DAYS OF PRAYER (Corporate Prayer)
We are praying for our YOUNG ADULTS.
Possible prayer areas: That they would have powerful God encounters. Pray that as they read the word that God would speak to them powerfully. Pray for the Young Adults retreat happening in April this year.
