PART 2: THE SECRET PLACE (Days 8–13)

Welcome to the next stage. In the first phase, we put Jesus on the throne. Now, we move into the quiet corners of your walk. Maturity isn't just about public decisions; it’s about what happens in the quiet moments. Over the next few days, we will explore how you process pain, how you spend your time, and how you handle past wounds. Let’s allow the Spirit to go deep so our outward life matches our inward reality.

— DAY 9 —

TUESDAY 10 February, 2026

THE SECRET PLACE

SCRIPTURE PASSAGES

Luke 5:16
But Jesus often withdrew to lonely places and prayed.

Matthew 6:6

But when you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.

Psalm 62:8
Trust in him at all times, O people. Pour out your heart before him. God is a refuge for us.

COMMENT

When something big happens, whether it is an exciting victory or a difficult situation for you, what is your first instinct? Sometimes our natural reaction is to text a friend or share the news on social media. There is nothing wrong with this as it is a natural part of being human. However, it is so easy to process things through our emotions and the world’s lens before we have spoken to God. Spiritual maturity is the beautiful invitation to develop a secret place with the Father where we share our internal world with Him.

There is an incredible peace found in meeting with God in the secret place. Processing with the Lord first, we ensure our hearts are anchored in His truth before we speak to anyone else. It ensures we are better placed to speak words that build others up. Jesus modelled going to the secret place perfectly by constantly slipping away to be alone with His Father. When we choose to withdraw and process our lives in His presence, we find a perspective and a refuge that the world simply cannot provide.

The secret place is where we can pour out our hearts to the King of Kings, knowing that He can handle the absolute rawness and realness of our communication. In His presence, we find answers to questions, the grace to move forward with a heart that is settled and a spirit with more peace. Jesus is closer than a friend.

WHAT HAPPENS WHEN HE IS YOUR FIRST RESPONSE

Authentic Authority When you spend time in the secret place you stop trying to convince people of your value and start living out of the value God has already placed on you. Because you have processed your hurts with Him first your words carry a weight of wisdom rather than a weight of offense.

A Fragrance of Peace People will notice a difference in your spirit. Because you have been in the presence of the Prince of Peace you carry that atmosphere into every room you enter. You become a person who brings calm to a chaotic situation.

Unshakeable Confidence When you have already talked through your day with the King the opinions of others lose their power to rattle you. You walk back into the world with a quiet and steady confidence because you have already been heard by the highest authority.

Relational Protection You realize that there are things others were never meant to carry for you. By going to God first you protect your friendships and family from being projected upon and you ensure that your communication is restorative rather than divisive.

THE RESPONSE TEST
Pick the number that best describes where you feel you’re at right now. Where ever you are pray about what might be your next step to move forward.

  1. The Distant Room I know the secret place exists but I rarely visit it. When things happen in my life I tend to stay in my own thoughts and my own strength and the idea of withdrawing to talk with God feels unfamiliar or distant.

  2. The Occasional Visit I go to the secret place when I feel I have to. I mainly seek the quiet when I am in deep trouble or when I am at the very end of my own resources. My time alone with the Father is more of a duty than a desire.

  3. The Developing Rhythm I am starting to crave the quiet. I am becoming more mindful of my need to withdraw and I am learning to carve out moments to be alone with God. I can feel the difference in my spirit when I choose to spend time in His presence.

  4. The Instinctual Refuge The secret place is my immediate home. My first and most natural instinct is to withdraw and be alone with the Father because I have found that His presence is the only place where my soul feels truly settled and understood.

MAIN QUESTIONS
(Self Reflection)

Let’s Talk in the Chat
(on the Boot Camp group in Church Center)

One of the best parts of this journey is that we aren’t doing it alone. We’d love for our chat to be a place of real connection. As you go through each day, please jump in and share:

  1. God’s Voice: What is one specific thing you feel the Holy Spirit is whispering to YOUR heart?

  2. Self-Reflection: What did the "test" reveal to YOU today?

  3. The Wins: Did you do one of the action points? Tell us about it!

  4. Testimony: Share a thought about a time YOU felt God's peace after taking a situation directly to Him in private.

Please Read:
Don't worry about sounding 'spiritual' The most encouraging thing you can share is your honest process. This is a self-reflection about what God is speaking directly to you about in YOUR life. Words like “I” and “Me” are encouraged, “we” and “us” less so.

ACTION POINTS

  1. The Ten Minute Pause: When something significant happens today, wait ten minutes before telling anyone else. Use that time to tell God about it first.

  2. The Designated Spot: Identify a specific chair or a quiet corner where you can be alone with God and spend five minutes there today just talking to Him.

  3. The Heart Pour: Write down three things that are currently on your mind and physically hand them over to God in prayer as you read them aloud to Him.

  4. Practice the Pause: Before you send that reactionary text or phone call, take fifteen minutes (or longer if needed) to be alone with God to talk to him about it first.

PERSONAL PRAYER STARTER
"God, I want You to be the first person I talk to today. Help me to build a beautiful habit of coming to You first with my hurts and my wins. I want to find my refuge in You alone and trust that You are always listening in the secret place. Amen."

14 DAYS OF PRAYER (Corporate Prayer)
Today we are praying for the CHURCHES OF OUR CITY (Rocky & Moura)
Possible prayer areas: That they might be filled to overflowing. Pray that God would draw people from the North, South, East & the West. Pray for their pastors and leaders.
