Child Dedications

The word "dedicate" means to set aside or commit to a sacred purpose. Dedicating a child means committing them to God for His purposes. Proverbs 22:6 says it this way, "Train up a child in the way they should go so that when they are old, they will not depart from it." This doesn't mean you're going to be a perfect parent, it simply means that you'll do your best to follow God and point your children in the right direction.

With this in mind, the primary purpose of child dedications is to celebrate the birth or adoption of a child and for the parents to commit themselves publicly to raising their child in the nurture and love of the God, and for the church to pray for them in their awesome responsibility as parents. At Oasis, child dedications happen periodically throughout the year in our Sunday services and in other settings.
